This isn’t your typical “About” page. It’s not my resume, although I am happy to provide that if you’d like. Just ask. Instead, I wanted to offer you something that really depicts who I am.
I grew up in Conway, Arkansas, a small town just outside of Little Rock. I am Southern through and through, a daddy’s girl reared by a complement of steel magnolias. I went to the University of Arkansas where I studied history, art, and Razorback football every Saturday. I am a cradle Episcopalian, which most likely explains both my affinity for obscure saints and my heartfelt appreciation for red wine. |
Somewhere along the road of life, my fairly conservative upbringing took a left turn, and I found myself championing every underdog I could find. You might say I became an accidental activist, although I’m more comfortable with the word “advocate.” I traded in my Bandolino’s for a pair of Birkenstocks, bought a Subaru, and set out to cure a mean case of wanderlust. I’ve lived in Texas, South Carolina, Minnesota, and now Louisiana, where I've decided to park the car and put down some roots.
I think in my fifth decade, my pendulum is finding its center. That’s not to say I’m softening, by any means. Perhaps I’m just becoming more comfortable with the "and," rather than the "or." I'm happy that I worked in for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. I enjoyed both. I managed up, down, and sideways. I built relationships with every level of those organizations, from the boardroom to the C-Suite to the line employees. Now I am a solopreneur, and what truly matters to me is being surrounded by thoughtful, creative people who want to use their good hearts and open minds to do valuable work. That's how tenuous connections become trusted colleagues, and trusted colleagues become genuine friends.
I like to hang out with the teachers, the preachers, the healers, the seekers. I like to grow, and learn, and stretch. I want to drink it all in, and then use that wisdom to empower more people. People who want to design prosperous communities and better futures. People who thrive in a culture of connectedness and collaboration. People who want to improve their own lives, and it turn, improve others'.

“Learning is finding out what you already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you. You are all learners, doers, teachers.”
